Contests & Other Challenges

Many of the member of the Greater Toronto Group enjoy indulging in the creative outlet of writing. This could be a natural result of all the reading that is done and all the words floating around in our heads. Be that as it may we have come up with an outlet for these creative urges.

From time to time there is a CONTEST and there are PRIZES.

The contests past, present and future are outlined on this page as are the results and the prizes available. The actual fruit of these endeavours can be found in the creative corner. Occasionally we will broaden the scope of the challenges and invite friends and associates to take part.

Jerry's Challenge	As an addendum to his well researched and informative piece - Writers and Their Demons, (see Creative Corner) Jerry has challenged the members of the group to produce an equally intriguing paper on the subject. Choose writer ( but not one of those already discussed) and talk about that writer's personal demons, be it alcoholism, depression, manic depression, etc... Each person can only make 1 submission. Length 1200 - 2000 words The contest is upon to all book club members and the winner will be voted on by those who make no submission. There is no actual 1st, 2nd or 3rd prized. Creative Word Usage	Open to all memebers, honorary memebers and friends & associates if same. Everyone who attended the Robbie Burns Dinner in January submitted a word.. These words are to used writing a short piece, minimum 500 maximum 2,000 words. Every word in the following list is to be used. Please bold or italicize the special words in your story. Any subject, original, and the words can be in any order in the story. Prizes will be awarded for the "best." Submissions are due by the March meeting.
